The Ryder Social Club
About This Spot
Stepping into The Ryder Social Club is like walking into the heart of a neighborhood gathering spot where warmth and familiarity thread through every corner. Nestled on Coltman Street, this is less a typical bar and more a lively hub that pulses gently with the hum of community life. The air carries the easy buzz of conversations blending with the clink of glasses, punctuated by bursts of laughter and the occasional cheer from a sports match playing across screens.
The pace here is invitingly relaxed yet filled with quiet energy — the sort of place where time slows enough to savor a moment, but never stands still. Staff members greet guests with genuine smiles, making regulars and newcomers alike feel seen and welcome. Whether you drop by for an afternoon salad from the self-serve bar or settle in with a couple of pints, there’s a refreshing honesty about the experience, a reminder that this is about more than just food and drinks; it’s about the simple pleasure of shared moments.
Across the week, the Ryder adapts with ease — from spirited bingo sessions that bring out friendly competition and community cheer, to nights filled with live music where voices join in unison and the mood edges into something almost celebratory. For those watching a key game, the buzz of collective hope and rivalry adds a different rhythm, creating an atmosphere charged with connection yet grounded in the familiar comfort of a local haunt.
The Ryder’s role as a social club and event venue deepens its sense of belonging. It has borne witness to life’s poignant milestones and festive gatherings alike, always with a gentle attentiveness from staff who handle every occasion with care. Clean, accessible spaces underscore a thoughtful approach that keeps the focus on enjoyment and togetherness.
In essence, The Ryder Social Club is a genuine slice of Hull’s community spirit — where the tastes, sounds, and stories intertwine naturally among friends old and new, and every visit feels like coming home.

Premium drinks at affordable prices. Service always with a smile, lovely staff and generally a welcoming and warm place. I particularly enjoy watching sports there and have also been for bingo which was great fun. Hoping to catch some live music at some point as ive heard good things about those gigs. Last saturday I was given a free pie and peas which was unexpected but looked too good to turn down. Apparently its part of an ongoing incentive on a Saturday afternoon.

Been here for 2 funerals now. I'd like to say l don't want to come bk anytime soon, but that doesn't in no way reflect Ryder's. Staff are really lovely. Got a lot to thank them for.

We were here for my husband s Aunties wake. And boy did they do her proud. Plenty of seating. Clean and tidy. Staff lovely and friendly. The food was excellent. You want everything to run smoothly and it certainly did. Toilets clean and accessible.

The only down thing was a large enough adapted toilet for larger wheelchairs

The Ryder Club is a cash-only establishment, which presented a slight inconvenience when it came to purchasing beverages, particularly for those of us who do not typically carry cash. Despite this minor setback, the drinks were reasonably priced and the patrons were friendly and welcoming. We were entertained by the bingo game and found it to be quite amusing. Overall, it was a positive experience and we would consider returning in the future.

Went on a Wednesday for friends' mums birthday. There's 2 bar areas, one with a pool table and one with a dance floor. A covered outside smoking area, plus a large area with a bar. You can park in the streets, but spaces are not guaranteed. The area where we were was packed. There were 2 singers and a dj (Mr Bubbles) who were brilliant. They had everyone up dancing. There was bingo and some card games. Later, they did a takeout carton of food. It's £1 a tray and a choice of chicken tikka, regular chicken curry plus some other badic items & chips. It was decent. Drinks are a good price, a bottle of wine just £13 and the service was quick too. Sundays are the same with music, singers & bingo. A fantastic atmosphere, great people and staff.
